GA Tech, Here we Come
So David has been accepted to Georgia Tech as well as Clemson, and after a little deliberation; we have decided that we are going to become Yellow Jackets!
David starts school at the beginning of June, which means that we have to find a place to live and I have to find a job within the next two months!
Help, please?
I am really excited. I thought I would NEVER be excited about moving to Atlanta, but I really am!
We're looking in the Piedmont Park, Virginia Highlands and Candler Park/Little Five Points area for places to live. I really love that area!
Hopefully everything will go well between now and then!

Patience is a virtue . . . but not one of mine
"Patience is the companion of wisdom."
-Saint Augustine
I have a confession. I am the least patient person on the planet.
I really like this Israeli cartoon, because if I were a bald little boy, this would be me.
I am trying to work on being a patient person, but every day I find myself tapping my foot or compulsively glancing at the clock.
I also really like this Saint Augustine quote.
I aspire to be wise.
Wisdom is at the top of my list of desirable attributes, because I think all other desirable attributes flow from wisdom.
So, I am resolving to stop my daily dialogue of
"Ugh. David, why won't this person hurry up?"
"Ugh. David, I have THREE more hours of work! The day is SO slow."
"Ugh. David, this picture is taking so long to download. Can you make it go faster?"
. . . or something like that
Basically, I think my husband's sanity depends on my attempt.
I'm going to start working on it. We'll see how it goes . . .

New Blog Address
Welcome to my new blog! Not much has changed. The main difference is that I can now get to my blog through my own email, rather than David's. I hope it's easy to find!

Also Love . . .
Twenty8Twelve by Sienna and Savannah Miller
The Spring/Summer 09 collection has a nice balance of pretty colors and neutrals with lots of feminine detailing. Love it.
p.s. could the Miller sisters be any prettier!

I'm In Love
I'm in love with every outfit in the lookbook of Madewell's collaboration with shopbop.com!
-except for the all-denim boilersuite, definitely not my style, but I love the boots!

Perhaps I Spoke Too Soon
My post on Clemson was perhaps premature. Since David's acceptance, we have really been weighing our options and it looks like GA Tech may now be the front-runner. We both swore we would never move to Atlanta, but you can't beat in-state tuition and the possibility of more jobs for me. Plus, we drove to Clemson last weekend and while the campus is really nice, the area is a bit depressed, and not in a quaint, picturesque way.
So we could possibly be moving to Atlanta, but either way we'll be moving soon!
Any opinions? Pros/Cons?

Ideal
This is pretty much what I consider an ideal look. I love her hair, her lip color, and EVERYTHING about her outfit. Perfect!
Perhaps in a few days when I don't have so much swirling around in my head (Clemson, looking for a house, packing up the current house, looking for a job, etc.), I can actually do a post that is longer than a couple of sentences!

Clemson, Yes Please
So, David got accepted to Clemson!
It looks like we're South Carolina-bound!
He'll be starting the Master's of Architecture program either this Summer of this Fall.
Either way, it looks like we'll be shipping out in a few months.
It's a 3 1/2 year program, so it's going to be a big commitment, but we're both really excited!
And fortunately for both of us, we've never been football fans, so we don't have to worry about donning all-orange outfits!
Wish us luck!

Currently Reading
So I originally bought this book for one of my favorite college classes. I'm sure I've mentioned Dr. McAlexander's Southern Literature course before. I won't go into how much I love him again, but I will say that I really love this book! It is titled A Modern Southern Reader and it's an anthology of short stories, poetry and essays written by modern Southern authors. We read several selections while I was taking the class, but I haven't picked it up in a while. This time around I've read "Children on Their Birthdays" by Truman Capote and "The Jilting of Granny Weatherall" by Katherine Anne Porter. They are wonderful. Both authors are able to create memorable characters that embody the idea of the modern South, while still conjuring iconic southern imagery. The poetry is also really well done. I like John Crowe Ransom, in particular. Great read with lots to think about!

Alas
i'm a sucker for seasonal totes, but alas, i have no excuse to buy one {and my hubby may have a heart attack if i add another to the collection}!
i really love these - they're utilitarian and simple, but also pretty:

a perfect example of my eternal frustration with companies like
old navy - this tote is way cute, WHY do they have to add a silly flower to it? the tote is so classic and pretty without it! it looks like the flower is detachable, but what a waste of resources and time!

On a Snowy Evening
Excuse me, I have an announcement to make.
In case you haven't heard, it actually SNOWED in Athens!
David I went to church Sunday morning, hearing the rumors of snow showers for the evening, but not really holding our breath. This is Athens, after all. As I sat in church, I heard one of my friends whisper "It's snowing" and run to the window to open the blinds. And it was snowing! But me being the pessimist that I am, was like "It won't actually stick or last long enough to cancel work Monday".
So I headed home after church and snapped a few pictures while I waited for David to come home, thinking I should get some pictures before it all melts.
David came home and we took a nap, and when we woke up, there was at least 3-4 inches of snow on the ground! I was finally able to believe that we were actually going to have a significant snowfall. We got really excited and decided to bundle up and head outside to play. I made David take the lids off of two of our storage bins, to serve as makeshift sleds, and we headed out into the white.
We walked all over north campus, noticing how beautiful all of the old buildings look covered in a blanket of white.

I'm looking a little scary in all of the pictures.
The coat I'm wearing is 3 sizes too big, and I got hot
and had to tie my sweater around my waist, and my hair is
reaching that tangled-mess-under-the-hat point,
but oh well-it was snowing and Herty Field looked gorgeous!

After Herty Field, we headed to the Founder's Garden. We had our wedding reception there almost three years ago. It is especially beautiful in the springtime with all of the flowers in bloom, but the snow produced a completely different, special kind of beauty.
Walking around north campus was fun, but also dangerous! Every few minutes we could hear the limbs breaking off of the trees under the weight of the snow.
After the Founder's Garden we headed to one of my favorite places in Athens - Park Hall.
It's funny how we only remember the good memories.
By the time we left Park Hall, my pants and boots were starting to soak through, so we decided to head back home. On the way, I thought it might be fun to try to catch snowflakes in my mouth.

Janie's Birthday Part II
This past weekend, we traveled to Augusta, GA for Janie's birthday. We spent the night in their cute house and went shopping for frames Saturday morning. Saturday evening, all of Janie and Adam's dental school compadres came over, along with a couple of Athens faithfuls, and we had a birthday party for the birthday girl.
David and his "brother" Aaron posed for a rare picture.
Steph, Janie andI tried to pose for a picture, but either I looked scary . . .
. . . or they did!
Janie and I tried for one together . . .
. . . and finally got one right.
Janie opened presents and we had a grill-out and played games.
We had a great time, as always! Happy Birthday Janie - we love you!

p.s. I know how you hate red-eye, Janie, but I still haven't figured out how to remedy that. So you'll just have to steal this pics and fix them!
