NYC

I AM SO EXCITED! David and I leave for New York City soon! We are so happy that we are able to make the trip up there for Martin and Mim's wedding! The timing is perfect, because I have always wanted to visit New York in the Fall. Plus, Martin and Mim are getting married in the Manhattan Temple, which looks really pretty and modern. David has been to New York many times, but this will be my first trip. So, I need lots of suggestions on where we should go. I think we have decided to skip the Statue of Liberty, but I would like to see some of the obvious attractions, like Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, etc. I guess I really want suggestions on some of the less obvious places to visit - especially shopping suggestions! I can't wait!

For a cool vintage store (that I think you would LOVE) go to Screaming Mimi's in the villiage. Also, if you don't want to do the Statue of Liberty, you can get on the Staten Island Ferry for free and it goes right by it. That way you can see it without having to pay or do a tour or whatever. It leaves every 30 min I think and it's a pretty short trip and a nice view. I'll let you know if i think of anything else. I grew up an hour away from there so I'm sure I can come up with some other fun things. Let me think on it.

HELLO! I didn't even know your blog was up and running and I'm on your website list...anyways I'm glad your blogging now and I'm glad your going to NYC, but you might change your might from wanting to move to NYC instead of Oregon. :/ You'll love it...one stop you have to make is the Anthropologie at Rockefellar Sqaure

Oh, you have to check the H&M for cute cheap clothes. Seredipty 3 is yummy eats. Chinatown is a quick fun run-through. Central Park is HUGE so just pick a part of it to go to, Strawberry Fields or something. Ride the subway. Take in a play--Tikets Kiosk in Times Square can usually get some decent tickets to some shows, afternoon shows are usually cheaper (you have to be there EARLY in the morning for the good tickets); the TODAY show. Also, check out the blog "No Sex in the City" it's by a mormon chick who is working on broadway in manhattan. Oh, and Ground Zero area of course. It's a super busy place and tons to fun things to do--we went for a 4 day marathon of touristy things and it was FUN but EXHAUSTING. Be ready to go, go, go.

1) Magnolia Bakery (Greniwich Village)...the best $3 cupcake you have ever had in your life...no seriously.
2)Brooklyn Bridge (my favorite walk in the city)
3) Staten Island Ferry (it's free and you'll still see a wonderful view of the Statue of Liberty.
4) Rice to Riches (I dream about this place every night you have to go regardless if you like rice pudding or not.)
5) Visit the Frick (it's actually not as large as the Met or the guggenheim, but you still see amazing art plus you tour a mansion from the 1900's that is still in top notch condition)
6) Eat extremely ethnic food: anything from Nigerian to Moroccan...what ever you heart desires.
7) China Ice Cream Factory (I may be a little off by the name), it's in China town and they are known for their most exotic icecream flavors ever.
8) If you like Peanut butter sandwiches, right by NYU their is a gourmet Peanut butter and jelly sandwich shop with every combination you could think of, $8 a sandwich, a little pricey, but I thought it was worth the experience.
9) Botique Shopping in Soho! I know I won't have to tell you twice, but you will love this Morgan CATES!
10) The Roosevelt Island Tran (I noticed someone mentioned Serendipity to order the classic frozen hot chocolate, the wait is usually 60 minutes, so while waiting walk 5 blocks east to the roosevelt island tran, take it round trip, it's beautiful at night

Umm, possibly the longest comment ever and I could probably go on. Actually better yet, I will just come with you. I love NYC, it will always have a special place in my heart. THe best advice I can give is do your research...there are so many unexplored really neat places there other than the steryotypical tourist areas. Have fun, I know you will.

Morgan, I love your blog! Why haven't we seen you guys in so long. We need to have you over ASAP. Have fun in NYC! I went for my first time in March and loved it. My only advice is, stay busy! There is so much to see and do - you'll be absolutely worn out, but it's worth it. Go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art - the others are nice, but I would have spent our whole trip there if I could have. Can't wait to see your pictures!
